Harry Potter and the Final Snub

Although Warner Bros.’s strong attempt to make the list, when the Academy Awards nominations were announced yesterday, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2‘ was barely mentioned.

The highest grossing film of the year failed to secure a nomination for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor/Actress, Direction or Cinematography. These categories were ones that Warner Bros. strived to get noticed in, but clearly did not. The snub for a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for Alan Rickman took the fandom by storm. Many fans expressed their anger and despair in blog posts all over Harry Potter fan-sites.

But, we must be grateful for the nominations we did earn. ‘Deathly Hallows – Part 2’ is nominated in the following categories:

Art DirectionStuart Craig, Stephenie MacMillan

MakeupNick Dudman, Amanda Knight, Lisa Tomblin

Visual Effects- Tim Burke, David Vickery, Greg Butler, John Richardson

Congratulations to all of the teams responsible for Art Direction, Makeup and Visual Effects. We hope you win!
