J.K. Rowling’s new site launches!

This morning, almost unexpectedly, J.K. Rowling’s new website launched, showcasing all of the author’s work, a timeline highlighting important events in her life and her own quotes.

There are two main parts of the site; a timeline and an informational section about Harry Potter, The New Book and J.K. Rowling.

The timeline is the first thing that you see when you visit the site. As said above, it highlights certain important events in her life and career going way back to her birth. This events include the launch of Pottermore, her early influences on writing, her school life, and of course- the initial idea of Harry Potter. There are three filters of the timeline – About J.K. Rowling, The New Book, and Harry Potter. She discusses her personal thoughts and feelings about writing, her mother’s death and failure. There is a huge feeling about this website that is completely different about the former – it’s personal. On her former website, she mainly talked about Harry Potter and  her life relating to Harry, and there wasn’t a personal feeling like this new one.

The informational part of the site is as equally interesting. It includes a biography of J.K. Rowling, new information about her latest book, Harry Potter and Pottermore. In the section about herself, there is an FAQ & Rumors part in which she answers, of course, frequently asked questions. Some of these questions include Will there ever be another Harry Potter novel? and What about the Harry Potter Encyclopedia? Her answers are worth checking out…

Overall, we say that this is an amazing and beautiful new site, but we can’t truly say which one we like better; the old one or new one. It certainly is a close race!
