Pottermore adds new feature to profiles: badges

On Tuesday, Pottermore added the new Badges feature to user profiles.

Everyone who checked out their Pottermore profile on Tuesday received a little surprise. An additional section appeared for Pottermore’s new interactive gameplay feature: badges.

The reason we say “interactive gameplay” is because many games and social networks have this kind of feature, receiving perks (in this case the badges) for completing certain things. Pottermore has only jumped on the bandwagon!

In a post on the Pottermore Insider, Pottermore today formally announced the feature.

Badges are a new, fun and rewarding addition, which we hope students will enjoy acquiring as they explore Pottermore.

You can view the Badges on your profile page, where you will be able to see the ones you have been awarded, or learn how to get your next Badge, by hovering over the Badge name and following the instructions.

In the meantime, let us know what you think of the new Badges, which ones you’ve collected and if there are any you’d like to see become available in the future.

Currently, there are three badges available. Here’s a list of them and what you have to do in order to receive the badge:

  • Discoverer: Discover five pieces of exclusive J.K. Rowling content in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
  • Explorer: Explore every Moment in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
  • Scarlet Engine: Complete Chapter Six of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone – The Journey from Platform Nine and Three-Quarters

Tell us in the comments what you think about the badges, and which badges you have in your collection!
