Promotional events & appearances for J.K. Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy announced; all in the US

Five new promotional events and appearances for J.K. Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy have been announced, all of which are in the United States.

On Wednesday, Little, Brown announced J.K. Rowling’s only public appearance in the United States for The Casual Vacancy. On October 16, J.K. Rowling will be hosting a discussion and book signing at New York’s Jazz at Lincoln Center. Rowling will be in discussion with bestselling novelist Ann Patchett and will be taking ‘select’ questions from the audience, followed by the book signing.

The venue seats about 1,100 people. For those who cannot attend, the event will be streamed live in bookstores all over the country. Tickets will be available September 10. They will cost $44 via phone, $43 on the internet, and $37 if purchased at the Lincoln Center box office. We saw one report that books will be provided at the event — a $35 value. When it comes to New York events, that’s a pretty low price considering you get to listen in on the discussion and have your book signed. There’s even a chance that your question will be chosen.

Currently, the event is not listed on the Lincoln Center website, or even J.K. Rowling’s website. We suspect further information will be released.

The same day, an extensive piece on The Casual Vacancy and J.K. Rowling ran in USA Today. In the article, it was reported that J.K. Rowling was scheduled to appear on several television programs. These include ABC’s Good Morning America, World News, and Nightline, and Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

We think that the television appearances will be broadcasted the same week as her event at Lincoln Center because ABC and The Daily Show‘s studios are both located in New York.

Along with these appearances, J.K. Rowling will be appearing at the Southbank Center in London on September 27 and at the Cheltenham Literature Festival on October 6. She will also be hosting a webcast on October 11 to discuss Harry Potter and Pottermore. Information about all of these events, including the newly announced appearances, can be found here.

The Casual Vacancy will be released September 27.
