Pottermore announces the winner of the second House Cup…

Gryffindor has won the Pottermore House Cup! Go Lions!

At around 10:00 this morning in London, Pottermore announced the winner of the second House Cup.

And the winner is… Gryffindor!

Here are the final standings:

1st Place: Gryffindor – 48,538,348 points

2nd Place: Slytherin – 48,495,275 points

3rd Place: Hufflepuff – 48,438,276 points

4th Place: Ravenclaw – 45,455,773 points

It was a tight race and all the houses put forth terrific effort! But, as with the Inaugural Pottermore House Cup earlier this year, the competition ultimately came down to Slytherin and Gryffindor, and Godric’s house triumphed. Hopefully for the third House Cup Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff will get a chance to win.

In honor of the victory, Pottermore transformed the previously purple Great Hall banners into red. You can see how the Great Hall looks in the picture on the right, above.

The Pottermore Insider has yet to update on the announcement, but should be during the day. We suspect that they will be announcing the prize tomorrow, as they did with the first House Cup.

  1. Wow, Hufflepuff was close! We only lost to Slytherin by roughly the number of points that PM took away from me as punishment.

  2. Reblogged this on Sane As I Am and commented:
Wow….it looks like I’ve missed a lot of excitement on Pottermore while studying…
But after Monday, I’ll be free again!

Well done to all you Gryffindors!!
I’d just like to ask a question: has it really been TWO years since Pottermore first started up?? It doesn’t feel like it! In which case, does this mean that we will be having 2 House Cup Awardings a year?
