As we previously reported, J.K. Rowling’s first novel for adults, The Casual Vacancy, is being adapted for a BBC One television miniseries. On Monday, a screenwriter was announced for the project, and Sarah Phelps, who wrote scripts for BBC’s Great Expectations and Eastenders, will write The Casual Vacancy.
The BBC noted briefly of Phelps’ position in an announcement for another project she is working on, the adaptation of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None and Partners in Crime.
SnitchSeeker reached out to BBC and Rowling’s reps and both teams confirmed it. According to SnitchSeeker, production for the miniseries will begin later this year, and the number of episodes as well as casting information will be released sometime in the near future.
