UPDATED: J.K. Rowling to write new novel – for adults

BREAKING NEWS: In an announcement today by J.K. Rowling’s new agency, The Blair Partnership, plans for a new book by the author were announced.

After seven books and eight films, the Harry Potter author has finally made her announcement about a piece of writing she may have been planning for years. The Harry Potter books have sold an astounding 450 million copies that were adapted into the blockbuster hit films and sparked a unique and very powerful group of fans.

Since the release of the final book in 2007, the author has been hinting of a writing a new book (specifically on her mysterious Twitter page). This book will be her first non-related Harry Potter work, as she has stated many a times that she has severed her ties with the boy wizard. This is not entirely true, as she launched her new site, Pottermore, this past June (8 months to this date).

The author’s new literary agency’s homepage is fully curtained with the statement:

We are pleased to announce that our client, J.K. Rowling, will be releasing a new novel for adults. Further details will be announced later in the year.

It was followed-up with a message from J.K. Rowling in a press release:

Although I’ve enjoyed writing it every bit as much, my next book will be very different to the Harry Potter series, which has been published so brilliantly by Bloomsbury and my other publishers around the world. The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry’s success has brought me, and with that new territory it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher. I am delighted to have a second publishing home in Little, Brown, and a publishing team that will be a great partner in this new phase of my writing life.

So, there you have it! The announcement has been made and was even a cause of great celebration from the fandom and publishing world (surprised?!). Instead of reading a whole long post, we are in the process of writing more posts about the announcement that will be posted at our Tumblr page. Some of the links may be dead now, but they will be live as soon as everything is written.

UPDATE: Straight from J.K. Rowling’s Twitter, she announced that the book will indeed be released later this year. New details will be coming soon.
